Compact - Moving With You

Introduction:

 

This project was about creating a feasible startup considering the business view, branding and communication strategy.  

Challenge:

 

Find a complex process and make it simple and realistic in a deadline of 4 weeks. 

Project:

 

After doing research, interviews with people that moved recently and analysing competitors the group realized that people moving houses with furniture are pretty glad with the service of big companies. But, small moves, which means, people who are moving houses alone and need help to carry bags and objects, as kitchen and other important items aren´t covered by a unique service.

 

Going deep into the small moving market, we noticed that if people need a cheaper company, they use men with vans, but isn´t a professional and safe service. On the other hand, a professional and safe company is super expensive and provide a truck that it´s a bigger vehicle than the person probably need. Also, taxi drivers aren´t prepare to help with boxes and bags and when people decide to use public transport others around get annoyed and it´s necessary to use the help of friends, otherwise they make multiple trips between houses.

 

After unify all this facts, we defined our target as minimal movers, that are people that need to move their possessions, but ask for the help of a friend and currently are paying more to use a van or truck, because they don´t have the option to choose a vehicle that fits exactly what they need.

 

Insights:

 

- Friends don´t like to help during the moving day;

- Small movings take more than one trip between houses;

- Small moving companies aren´t personalized and safe;

 

That´s why we created Compact, a crowdsourcing service that brings a personalised moving helper with a car that fits everything the customer needs. The idea allows car owners to become Compact drivers to commercialise their rides and help the minimal movers. Compact follows the recipe of other successful startups, such as Uber and Airbnb, creating an environment where people collaborate in a way that benefits all of them, as well as the company.

 

Other important point is that the users will be the most value resource of Compact, once the quality control of the drivers will be reviewed based on the rating after every moving trip.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Process:

 

We were working in a group of 4 people and everybody was part of all the process. We passed through ideation, desk research, interviews, journey map, road map, lean prototype, business model canvas, ecosystem of stakeholders, branding, strategy of communication, tactical plan, layouts, video and presentation. 

 

Result:

 

We presented our idea to a panel and received a prize as the most investable company, which means that our idea is feasible, once our business model canvas can be monetised and it´s realistic.

 

 

 

The Choice:

 

After sharing passions and problems that the group would like to solve we realized that the moving industry needed to be disrupted to make this process less stressful and more pleasant.
